Aadi Koolu is a very healthy food. The main ingredient is Black Gram Flour(Urad Dal Flour).
It is a healthy snack for kids, as well as adults.
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Ingredients:
Urad Dal Flour - 1 cup
Jaggery - 1 cup. (Achu vellam 7 pieces) or 2 cups of brown sugar
Butter - 1 stick
Water - 2 cups
Procedure:
1. Sauté the urad flour in dry heat.
2. Melt the butter in a pan. then, saute the flour in the butter. 3. Add the jaggery and the water in another pot and boil. Now, melt the jaggery , let it set. 4. Here, an important step is to strain the jaggery syrup. You will find dirt , when you strain it. 5. Remember, the jaggery is only melted , to remove the dirt. So, there is no need to check 1 or 2 string consistency of the syrup. 6. Now, add the strained syrup slowly to the flour, while constantly stirring the mixture. This is to avoid lumps . 7. When the butter separates in the sides and the mixture doesnt stick to the bottom, it is done. 8. Now, the dish is ready to serve . It tastes best when hot. Tips :1. Let the jaggery syrup be fairly hot.
2. Keep the stove in medium flame.

Urad Dal is very rich in Protein.
