Vada curry with banana flower

Bonjour mes amis, I am going to share a healthier version of vada curry. I have only steamed the vada , instead of deep frying in oil, like in the original recipe. There is a special ingredient , which is 'tender banana blossoms'. Please make sure you don't use the first few layers of the blossom. They will be thick and won't taste good.  For the curry: Onion - 1 large, finely chopped Garlic - 5 cloves, chopped Tomato - 1 medium, chopped Tamarind - 1 gooseberry size, soaked and pulp extracted Turmeric powder -1/4 tsp Coriander powder - 3 tbsp Chilli powder - 1/2 tbsp (or according to your spice tolerance level) Asafoetida(hing) - 1/4 tsp Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp Salt as per taste Curry leaves - a few Coriander leaves - few  For the dumplings: Banana blossom - tender pieces from the inner layers; deveined and chopped roughly Channa Dal - 2 tbsp Toor Dal - 4 tbsp Fennel seeds - 1/4 tsp Cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp Dry red chillies - 2  Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp Asafoetida powder ...

Easy and Quick Laddoo

Hello readers,  Wish you all a very Happy Diwali 💥✨ Let's celebrate this year's Diwali with this simple and easy to make Laddoo without deep frying boondis! You will need ( yields approximately 25 laddoos) Channa Dal - 1 cup Sugar - 2 cups Water - 1/2 cup Cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp Edible Camphor - 1/4 tsp Ghee - 3 tbsp Canola Oil - 3 tbsp Cashew Nuts split into half - 1/4 cup Golden Raisins - 1/4 cup Diamond cut rock sugar - 1/8 cup Cloves - few First wash and soak the Channa Dal in water for atleast 4 hours. Then drain the water completely and grind well without adding water.  In a thick bottomed pan heat the oil and ghee and roast the ground dal in low medium flame, until it is cooked and becomes grainy. Switch off the stove.  In a sauce pan, add the sugar and water and first let the sugar dissolve. Veppam Poo Rasam (Neem Flower Rasam)

On the Tamil New Year's Day, we have to cook dishes with all the 6 different tastes, i.e. அறுசுவை உணவு . Neem Flowers- dried - 1 tsp crushed Tomato - 1 medium Garlic - 2 pods crushed Tamarind - 1 lime size , soaked in water and pulp taken Salt as per taste Cumin  Pepper Powder - 1tsp Water - 1 1/2 cups to temper - Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp Pepper Corns - 5 Cumin Seeds - 1/4 tsp Dry Red Chilli - 2, broken into pieces Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp Curry Leaves - few 1. In a pan, heat 1 tbsp oil and add all the ingredients for tempering and let them crackle. 2. Then add the garlic , tomato and turmeric powder and sautee well. 3. Now add the tamarind pulp and 1 1/2 cups of water. 4. Once it starts to form bubbles around the pot, add the salt, cumin pepper powder and also sprinkle     the crushed neem flowers and switch off the stove . Parangikkai Koottal Kuzhambu (Red Pumpkin Kuzhambu)

This is a very easy and and quick to cook dish. Ingredients : Red Pumpkin - 1 lb Onion - 1 large , chopped Garlic - 10 pieces Tomato - 1 medium chopped Tamarind - 1 lemon size, make a puree out of this Dhania Powder - 2 tbsp Chilli powder - 1 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp Water - 1 1/2 cups Salt - as per taste Cooking Oil for seasoning : Mustars seeds, Methi seeds, Fennel seeds, Channa dal - 1 tsp, Asafoetida, Curry leaves 1. Cut the red pumpkin into 1 inch cubes. 2. In a pressure pan, add the pumpkin, onion, garlic, tomato,dhania powder, chilli powder,salt,     turmeric powder , tamarind puree, water and 1 tbsp oil . 3. Macroni Kuzhambu(Elbow Pasta in a tamrind gravy)

This is a chettinaad special kuzhambu and also my maternal grandmother's recipe which is my favourite. This is an easy to make recipe and also very yummy. It is a good combination with idli, dosa and cooked plain white rice.        Ingredients needed : Macroni (elbow shaped pasta)  - 1 cup   Onion - 1 large chopped  Tomato - 1 large chopped Garlic - 10  pieces Tamarind - 1 lemon size Dhania Powder - 3 tbsp Chilli Powder - 1 tbsp Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp Salt - as per taste  For Seasoning : Mustard, Methi Seeds, Fennel Seeds, Asafoetida, Chana Dal - 1/2 tsp and  Curry leaves.    How to prepare : 1. VAZHAIKKAI & SAKKARAI VALLIKKIZHANGU KUZHAMBU This is an easy to make and delicious kuzhambu 's main ingredients are sweet potato and raw banana. It is a Chettinaad dish. PARUPPU PIRKANGAI (DAL WITH RIDGE GOURD)

PARUPPU PIRKANGAI This is a kind of Dal made with Ridge Gourd. You can also use chow chow(also called Alligator Pear) for this dish instead o f Ridge Gourd. This dish is easy to prepare for bachelors too.  You will need: Ridge gourd - 2 medium Split green gram - little more than 1/4 cup Tomato - 2 medium Garlic pods - 3 crushed Curry leaves - few Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp Chilli powder - 1tsp or as required Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp Salt Cumin Seeds for seasoning   Now, 1. Peel the skin off the vegetable which you choose. 2. Heat 1tbsp oil in a pressure pan, put jeera and curry leaves. 3. Now, add the chopped vegetable and tomato together and saute for a minute. 4. Dasavathar Kurma

This is a kurma which contains 10 ingredients for it gravy. So, I named it Dasavathar Kurma. Ok, let's see the ingredients -   Samagri 1: (C 5 F 2 G 2 K) - To make paste   Coconut - 1/2 of one medium coconut Fried Gram Dal - 1/4 cup   Khus -khus - 1 tbsp Ginger- 1/2 inch piece Garlic - 5 pods Cinnamon Bark - 1 inch piece   Cloves - 3   Cardamom - 2   Fennel Seeds - 1tsp Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp      You might wonder what is this chemical name C 5 F 2 G 2 K.  Just remember all the ingredients for the gravy with this simple code of the starting letters of the ingredients. Chettinaad Muttai Kuzhambu (Egg in tamarind gravy ) This is another delicious chettinaad kuzhambu. This recipe uses a special powder for the chettinaad flavour. Guess what... keep guessing.... Beans Chops Kuzhambu

Dear viewers , Beans chops kuzhambu is now available for all of you. This dish looks like a gravy... But, i havent added coconut in this recipe. So,are you wondering how ???? Let's see the recipe........... Ingredients : Beans - 1 cup (chopped into 1inch pieces , cooked separately with salt) Jeera - 1 tsp Garlic - 6 flakes Cinnamon - 1 inch piece Cloves - 4 nos. Chettinaattu Kozhi kuzhambu(chicken kuzhambu)

செட்டிநாட்டு கோழிக் குழம்பு This is a very simple chicken kuzhambu, which I learnt from my fa ther and my grandmother.  This includes easily availab le ingredients. It also doesn't contains coconut in the recipe. I have used chicken thighs (legs) for this recipe. But, yo u can use chicken breasts with bones, or whichever you like.  Al ways choose skinless chicken pieces, as far as possible. The skin contains fat. So, it is b etter to avoid the skin .  This kuzhambu goes well as a side dish with idli, d osa, chapathi, idiyappam,parota,and also with white rice.   OK...........
