Kodo millet flour – 1/4 cup
Besan flour (gram flour) – 1/4 cup
Desiccated coconut powder – 1/2 cup
Milk – 1 cup
Jaggery powder – 1 cup
Ghee and oil mixture – 1/4 cup ghee+ 2 tbsp oil
Cardamom powder - 1/4 tsp
Method
Roast the kodo millet: Dry-roast 1/4 cup of kodo millet until it turns aromatic. Allow it to cool, then grind it into a fine powder. Now measure 1/4 cup.
Roast the besan: Dry-roast the besan flour until fragrant, taking care not to burn it.
Mix the ingredients: Sift the kodo millet powder and roasted besan into a thick-bottomed pan. Add the desiccated coconut powder, jaggery powder, and milk. Mix everything thoroughly until there are no lumps.
Begin cooking: Do not switch on the stove until all the ingredients have been mixed well and the mixture is smooth.
Cook the mixture: Switch on the stove and cook over low to medium-low heat, stirring occasionally at first.
Add the ghee-oil mixture: Once the mixture begins to thicken, stir continuously. Gradually add the ghee and oil mixture, a little at a time, while continuing to stir.
Important: The ghee-oil mixture should be at room temperature. Do not melt or warm it before adding it to the mixture.
Continue stirring: Keep stirring until the mixture thickens . Add the cardamom powder and keep stirring until the mixture leaves the bottom of the pan and holds its shape.
Finish: Transfer the mixture on to a plate and shape them into ladoos after it cools down.
These soft, melt-in-your-mouth ladoos are a delicious homemade treat that everyone can enjoy!
